Exploring the Aesthetic Components of Biophilic Architecture in the Design of Thematic Museums with an Approach to Enhancing Human–Nature Interaction (Focusing on the Motorcycle Museum Concept)

Biophilic architecture, emphasizing the connection between humans and nature, is considered an innovative strategy in the design of urban and public spaces. This study explores the aesthetic components of biophilic architecture in the design of thematic museums and examines how human–nature interaction can be enhanced within such environments, with a particular focus on the concept of a motorcycle museum. Thematic museums, beyond merely displaying objects, provide an opportunity to create multidimensional and engaging experiences, the richness of which can be significantly enhanced through biophilic architectural principles. A review of previous studies revealed that the application of this approach in thematic museums has received relatively limited attention. Accordingly, elements such as natural lighting, vegetation, the use of water features and natural materials, and nature-inspired forms were identified as key design tools. The findings indicate that biophilic design in a motorcycle museum can not only provide visitors with a deeper engagement with the exhibited content but also improve the quality of their experience by reducing stress and promoting psychological well-being. In addition to identifying aesthetic components, this study proposes strategies for integrating the cultural identity of the museum with principles of environmental sustainability.
